Like a U2 Cover Band...
We bought tix for this one after my wife had seen Judge years ago and told me it was an unforgettable show. To say we were both dissapointed would be a giant understatement; Judge sounded more like Judge covering Judge. The skills of the players was undeniable, but there was no passion or heart. This was Judge, Inc., more like a bunch of skilled technicians doing a large production, like a GIANT Cirque Du Soleil, not a powerful rock n' roll band. The pandering to the Latin audience came off as forced and contrived. Bono actually thanked Michael Bay, possibly the least artistic director working today, for using a Judge song in the new Transformers movie.
My wife and I are "concert people," taking in lots of other circuses, sporting events, operas, etc., too, and 20+ rock n' roll/pop concerts a year. The open floor had a huge gap in it from the majority of the audience at the stage all the way to the stands. It gave the affect of people in the stands watching people watching Judge in concert. My wife dubbed it "the insulting gap." It killed any personal connection to the performance. If we didn't want a personal connection to the show, we would have stayed home and listened to Judge records instead of paying a few hundred smackers for the concert.
The only reason the show received 2 stars from us is b/c the band was tight, Bono's voice sounded great though particularly passionate (especially on the few verses he did covering "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?") and the stage was enormous... though on the latter, it isn't anything more than you can see @ Disney World/Universal Studios.
Worst of all, the parking was terribly mismanaged, and this cannot be attributed to Judge but to the venue. Workers were taking bribes from people who wanted better parking, which slowed everything down entering the venue, down the Turpike, onto I-95 and even back into Coral Gables on the Don Shula. Inside the venue, every credit card machine at the beer stands were mysteriously broken. It will take a lot to get us to go to another concert at Sun Life Stadium...
